Hastings Sharks

The Hastings Sharks are the Special Olympics Minnesota team in the Hastings area. We are quickly expanding with the help of our community.

As part of  Special Olympics Minnesota, we offer year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for individuals with mental retardation. Participation is open to anyone ages 8 and up, and all programs are designed to serve all ability levels.

Special Olympics Minnesota-Hastings Sharks are managed by a Local Sports Management Team (LSMT). The Team is accountable to our Hastings area athletes, their parents and caretakers, as well as Special Olympics Minnesota. The Board functions under the guidelines for Special Olympics Minnesota/Hastings Sharks Local Management Team, which was adopted August 1, 2000.

We are very fortunate to have a team that is family oriented in both direct coaching,  participation and sideline cheering. Parents, guardians and caregivers are encouraged to become a part of our team. They can join some of our sports programs as a unified member and actually compete along with the athletes in area and state competitions. They can also become part of our coaching staff. We have a continual need for coaching on all levels of expertise, however, no experience is necessary, as all of our coaches are trained through  Special Olympics Minnesota programs.
